In memory of...
This month we are very sad to have
to tell
you of the loss of one of the students at Humble Hearts. Beatrice
Wambui was 7 years old. She loved school very much and begged her
mother to take

her. She enjoyed being with her friends
and always shared her food with them. Beatrice cared for
others. Earlier this month, she died in a tragic house fire that
also claimed the lives of her father and two siblings. I was
further saddened to think that we had not found a sponsor for
her. My personal goal is to have a sponsor for all of the
children at Humble Hearts before I leave for Kenya this month.
Please help us by sponsoring a child. The children at the school
were quite upset to hear the news. The school director said they
would sign, "Beatrice is dead?" over and over. While I am in
Kenya I will also be establishing a library at the Humble Hearts School
in memory of Beatrice who loved books. It will be named "Bea's
Book Nook". A bannor has been made to hang in the library and we
will have all of the children place their painted hand print on the
bannor. I can't think of a better way to honor this beautiful
child than this. If you would like to help with the
library,
I
invite
you to be a part.
Let's build a house...
With 25, children Holly House was
at
capacity. Now with 31 children we are more than pushing the
limits. I want to introduce you to Zipporah. Zipporah
came to Waddington High School after it opened hoping to get a chance
for an education. She is very bright and has been doing
well. At

the end of the first
school term she placed third in the
class of 50 students on exams. This last week Zipporah came to
Holly House carrying her few belongings and in
tears. What no one knew is that Zipporah was not living
with family as she had told the school director, but was actually hired
domestic help for a family. She had decided on her own to gain an
education and was attending school as she worked. The family she
worked for was not happy she was spending time away at school and
forced her to leave. She turned to the only place she
knew to go, Holly House. Children with no where to go and no way
to feed themselves will continue to come to the door of
Holly House. But sadly, there is no more room.
As we pursue some temporary accomodations, we also need to
begin the process of raising money and building a new home that will
accomdate not only the children who are there now, but allow for room
to expand.
See
how you can help!
Tibet sponsorships still
available...
The response last month to our announcement of sponsorship for orphans
living at a boarding school in Tibet was great. Our partners at
Love Without Boundaries have also found many sponsors for the
children. We want to thank those who have begun a
sponsorship and let you know that

we expect to
receive the first
pictures and reports towards the end of June. We will send the
report out to you as quickly as possible when I return from
Kenya. If
you haven't already, please consider sponsoring a
child. There are 60 children at this boarding school who need our
help.
For $10 a month
these children will be clothed, fed, provided with an education, and
their basic needs for housing and medical care will be provided.
Each sponsor will receive two updates during the year on
their
sponsored child. Weather in the area makes it difficult to
receive updated information on the children, but sponsors will get all
information as soon as it is available.
Contact
us if you can help give one of these children hope.
Cribs for Ningdu...
The baby cribs for Ningdu have
been ordered! We hope to hear soon that they have been built and
sent to the orphanage. We want to take time again to thank
everyone who generously donated for these cribs. Providing safer
cribs for the babies in China is
something that can be done so easily. We truly appreciate
your
support of this program! We also want to thank everyone that sent
us information about other orphanages and their needs for cribs.
We will be following up with those and work to replace cribs anywhere
in China that we can.
Washing Machines for Russia...
There are 6 different orphanages in Russia
that are in need of industrial washing machines. These
machines are
great, because they heat the water instead of just washing the
clothes. Imagine trying to wash clothes for 100 infants with no
hot water or no washing machine. It is a nearly impossible
task. By providing these machines we can reduce the challenges
and amount of work that the care providers have and help them focus
more on the children than on laundry. Help us purchase
these machines!
Waddington High School...
When we started raising money for
the new classrooms of the secondary school, we needed $12,000. A
very generous donor has agreed to match all donations up to $6,000,
cutting in half the money we need to raise. This past
month we have

been able to raise almost $2500 of the $6000
needed. With the current donations, the land can be purchased and
construction can begin, but it would halt
very quickly.
This building
needs to be availble for the new
school year, which will start in January. We need to be sure
construction continues. Here's a chance to double your
donation with
the matching grant that is available. Please help these students
continue their education. A donation of $10 or $20 goes a long
way, especially with the matching grant.
See the details of this
project and help us complete the next phase of Waddington High
School.
Announcing
Angel Kids...
My two boys, Justin and Jacob, are
excited about a
couple of projects this summer. They want to invite kids
everywhere to participate and help them raise funds. (There webpage
will be
coming soon.) This summer they are working on two ideas to raise
money for kids around the world, and they hope other children will help
too.
This summer they will be holding a garage sale. Yes, "they" will
be holding the garage sale. I have to say they have been working
very hard. They wrote a letter passed it out
to neighbors and every family in their
school. They have been receiving donations and working on sorting
and pricing everything as it comes in. In July, Justin and Jacob
will be holding their first garage sale.
They want to invite anyone to send a donation for their garage sale,
and also to invite kids in other places to consider helping in this
same way.

Their second plan for raising money this summer is
selling
lemonade. They call it "lemon-aid". They have always
enjoyed having a lemonade stand several times a summer to make a little
money. This summer, they hope to really put it to work and raise
money to help kids around the world. They want to invite kids
everywhere to join in. The boys have a lot of good ideas about
how to
make this an effective fundraiser and they will be posting their
thoughts on their
webpage. They will also be sending a t-shirt to every child who
has a lemon-aid stand and raises at least $25. It's going to be a
busy
summer!
While I'm in Africa...
June is here and I am completing
my preparation to travel to Kenya. I will be in the Nairobi area
from the 15th to the 27th. While I am away, your e-mails will be
read and orders will be handled by others who support Angel
Covers. Response times to e-mails from just before my departure
until after I return may not be as timely as normal. Please bear
with us as we go through a couple of weeks that will be almost
completely kid focused. We will catch everything back up to
normal as soon as possible on my return. I am so looking forward
to spending time with the children at Humble Hearts, Holly House,
Galilee Primary School and Waddington High School. We have so
many fun projects planned for the children as well as a lot of work to
do. I will also be meeting with directors at other locations who
have asked Angel Covers for support. I can't wait to update you
on my trip!
A new angel...

A couple of months ago we
introduced beautiful angels into our product line. This month we
are very
pleased to add an African angel. There are a variety of fabrics
for her dress. You choose which fabric you like for your
angel.
Take a look
at our new African Angel as well as our other
angels. What a great way to treat yourself and help orphans.
Don't forget DAD...
Father's day is coming on June
19th. I don't think squeaky shoes will fit, but what better way
to remember dad than with a gift that will give back to the children of
the world. What dad wouldn't be honored to have a piece of a
school built in his name, or to have food or an education provided for
a
child. After all, he can only wear so many neckties.
Take a
look at our gift card page and see the wonderful opportunites for
honoring dad. Don't see one of our programs on that page, like
items listed in this newsletter, or want to pick a different
amount? Try the create your own card and you tell us how to best
honor dad. Please have gift card requests in by June 12.
Child of the month...

Although he has already been on
our home page for a couple of weeks, we will be continue to feature
this
young man through the month of June. He is 8 1/2 years old and
currently living in Asia. He was born with a congenital heart
defect known as Tetrology of Fallot. In early 2002, surgery was
performed to repair his heart. If you would like more infomation
on this young man and on how to make him a part of your family, please
contact
Children's
House International at (435) 867-5225 or e-mail
stefani@infowest.com.
***********
The lives of the children around
the world often seem so distant from us. When we stop to think
about it, they aren't so distant. Without our involvement in
their lives the struggles they face would continue to be insurmountable
for many of them. It can be easy for us to think that someone
there should take care of the problem, but in many cases the resources
aren't there to solve the problems locally. Thank you for taking
time out of your days to realize the potential that we have in helping
these children reach their potential. Thanks for celebrating with
us and for crying with us. It is only when we realize how
intertwined our lives are with theirs that the problems get
solved. Keep up the great work!
Sincerely,
Kari
